There are still some places, so if you have something appropriate put in an entry! Hasnt been on for about 10 years or so. I used to love going, and watching and dreampt of having a go, now I am! I have entered myself! And cant wait! Who has entered here?? Surely a few old and new GT's are coming along! I will be there in my Triumph TR7 V8. A mate of mine will be in his 80's club race porsche. |

Stoked that its back. Can remember the days when Dicky used to bring his race cars down for a run.

What is there to do in Geelong, is there any type of touristy stuff? Also I've only ever been once to Smorgies in Geelong years ago, so I have no idea about it.
If I go I'll probably go via train, Vline is pretty damn good on Bendigo and Geelong lines. Is it open to newer cars? As thats what I'm mainly interested in. Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 06-10-2012 at 10:09 PM. |

In geelong there is heaps to do. The waterfront is very different to what it used to be. Thats nice, and theres the wool musuem, good shopping, lots of places to eat, the ford discovery centre recently closed sadly.
yes you can catch the train and its only a short walk to the cbd and the action along the waterfront(thats where the racing is). The newer cars are on the saturday, and all the vintage stuff, including old motorbikes is on the sunday. In the past, the big crowds turned up for the sunday more than the saturday. Would you believe back in the day 50,000 people used to line the course! Last time it happened was 2003, here is the list of cars on the sat and sun. http://www.geelongrevival.com.au/past-competitors/ Anyone with decent GT's get an entry in! If you dont want to race, you can go in car shows too. Maybe Fordforums should have a group enter?? |

My old man will be there competing in the Mini, keep an eye out for the British Racing Green Cooper S, car number 155. I'll be there watching.

These things are always fun and there are three things you will learn.
1) Just how much "performance" your "performance" car actually has. 2) Just how good you actually are at driving compared to how good you think you are. 3) Lots of really creative excuses that will be used by the "superheroes" as to why this particular weekend was not suitable for them to enter. These excuses may contain death of a family pet, some dog eating the entry form, some temporary ailment for either them or their car or even the classic "I don't want to draw attention to just how fast my cars is" but never anything like "I did this once and came dead last but only because everyone else cheated". This is walking the walk not talking the talk and is HUGE amounts of fun but be aware that it is not a drag strip and none of the "stunts" used to get low ETs during test'n'tune will work. We have something similar up here except it has corners as well. Looks like fun, shame it is so far away. |

Was heaps of fun!! Best turn out of cars I have seen!
I had no grip in 1st, and 2nd I could be slightly sideways as long as I liked (apart from one time where I had a one wheel burnout happening for 100 metres! Thats not the fastest take off!) I kept getting 14.2s. The trap speed at the end wasnt recorded but would have been pretty decent I think! Oh, I have only had my engine on for about 1 hour. Running it in quarter mile at a time! |

Heres an in car video of me! Started in 2nd gear for something different, and still struggled for grip! 14.2 sec. Wonder what it would do if it had grip and an LSD! Must lose maybe 1 and a half seconds doing starts like this?!
