I think the last paragraph pretty well sums it up............
"Yes I'm also an author and my book on conspiracy theories has no correlation whatsoever to this webpage". Yeah right..............

Lol. "Gone are the days when families buy a new car every year".
When did that honestly ever happen? I buy a different, not always new, car every 2 to 3 years and everyone thinks I'm crazy for doing that. I'm over buying cars all the time, but if there is a runway of dirt cheap v8s with new car warranties somewhere, I'll happily do my part and buy one. |

There could be some truth in the article though, perhaps if he used a more conventional font for the webpage

Snopes has just picked it up....
http://www.snopes.com/photos/automobiles/unsoldcars.asp A couple of snippets from the Snopes page.... "British automobile production, for example, has since rebounded to hit a record high in 2013 (with a car being produced every 20 seconds that year)" "In 2009, when these photos were taken, U.S. auto sales were running at barely a 9 million annual rate. Fast-forward to today and, as we learned at the beginning of this month, we are running at an annual rate of more than 16 million autos."

I suspect the storey is dodgey--as he hasn't research each situation.
My first 2 new cars-1981 rodeo was 4 year old--1985 bluebird purchased in 30 months as new cars. In my time at land rover they had cars in bond stores that no compliance plates fitted until they payed import tax. recently saw lots of 1000's of excess mondeo engines sold as scrap as they didn't meet market specs. The add on the tele quotes in NSW average family buy a car for 10 years--my parents do.-my falcon was purchased 3 years,my employer 4 years ago purchased cars for 10 000Km some lasted weeks.

I think it is possible that these massive storage areas could be like they were in 2009 again.
But then again the banks are throwing cheap money at the consumers to keep the pot boiling. Lets see what happens if interest rates start to rise again soon. |
