Was looking at a FG GTE 335 today and a beautiful car, White with red interior done 3000 Kim's. Saleman comes out and says nice car hey, use too be Nathan Tinkler's car. Fair enough I have a look at the books and its got Tinkler Affairs pty ltd. than he tells me they also got his GT black edition manual sedan done 900 Kms and they had already sold it to some bloke in Adelaide. Here is link to GTE http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/de...?Cr=11&sdmvc=1 . Cars been sitting around in Australia since he moved to Singapore, salesman said it had shoes $120 cash in the centre console plus other stuff and was sold to them as is. They apparently repossed everything they could get there hands on to repay depts. GTE is as new and I could not find one fault with it, bloody beautiful.

He has no luck with cars.
Back before he was broke, someone stole his Ferrari from his garage at night, then took it bush bashing and burnt it out. |

Biggish news in NSW a couple of years ago. Made a billion dollars or so with mining companies and then went bankrupt. Owned all of or parts of Newcastle Jets and Newcastle Knights at times.

Frivolous spending, and a lot of His net worth was tied up in assets. He owned (may still do) a 21% stake in Whitehaven coal, and lost something like 600 million over a botched takeover bid which seriously impacted their share price. Someone else will be able to clarify better than I can.

Still owns Knights, although handover is imminent. Players are complaining they're not getting paid at the moment, or getting Super payments.
Of more relevance to the motoring scene, Tinkler was lining up to buy a stake in DJR years ago when the Schwercholt stink was in full swing in 2010, so it sounds like he's a bit of a Ford man. It was apparently some journalist that broke the news during Tinkler's usual brinksmanship negotiations, and Tinkler backed away from the deal. DJ was ropeable and wanted someone's head on a plate. I have a feeling that was when he also found out he needed to get some 'rust' (cancer) cut out too, so it wasn't a year full of much in the way of good news - other than winning the championship. In hindsight, that journalist should be thanked for keeping Tinkler out of V8's, considering the damage he's doing to the pig-skin kickers in Newcastle. DJR do seem to be gaining their strength back again. The Penske buy-out rumours (or partnership? DJ seems like he'll never bloody well give up - he's still honouring the debt he feels he owes the public from 1981. It's OK DJ, consider us paid back.) won't be hurting him either. Tinkler has also been seen undergoing questioning at some of the corruption enquiries recently as one of the alleged corrupt contributors - these are the ICAC sessions that have been felling state Liberals almost by the dozens in recent weeks. So you don't know who Nathan Tinkler is eh? It must be nice living in bubble-world. Lukeyson

By throwing it around like a drunken sailor (or a Labor government). He bought a heap of racehorses and sports teams and pretty much everything he touched turned to excrement.
The title of a book about him sums him up-Boganaire.

He was never rich in the first place, it was all speculative wealth.
Theres a big difference to having a billion dollars of actual money, than having something people think it worth money and then borrowing money against its apparent value.

The same time he is virtually broke, living of the generosity of his wife, he can not pay his workers, bills etc. Flogging off "assets" as quickly as possible, he is also neck high deep in trouble with ICAC. Last edited by cheap; 22-05-2014 at 06:56 PM. |

Yes the stopped doing the red seats on the MKII's (I had a fight with the dealership over that because the car is a MKI).
At the time I was looking at it they wanted $64,000. Still cheap but it is a 3 year old car with no factory warranty left (not that I was too concerned). I offered them $60,000 for it and was prepared to fly up and get it on the weekend. Ended up with a Merc instead :$ lol! Theres an F6E I was looking at in Sydney too, but they would budge on price. Now its been gutsed too. Ex FMCO.

Heck 60K for a MKI SCV8 GTE, makes that 2012 MKII at city ford mid last year for 56k sound like a bargain. Still kind of think I should of bought it instead of the GT.
