Driving along in a amg c63 approx 2 hours ago from sydney cbd to home on wattle street leichardt I saw a red XA falcon GT. Number plates were "HO 4".. there was a sticker on back window that said GTHO phase 4.
The car had graphics on it like the original race car from the 1970s. I cant remember the drivers name on the side of it. A man and his wife were driving. It also had a roll cage of some sort in it. directly behind it, a white xy GT.. again had the race car graphics on it. Roll cage and bearing just normal plates. Whilst this car didnt announce itself as a phase 3, it may have been considering the company of the other car. A couole were driving, looked lime a young child in the rear. Does such a phase 4 exist or is this a replica? |

I thought bowdons had the remaining race p4s? I'd be surprised if any of them saw actual traffic, far too valuable. That's of they're even street legal.

Both times I've seen Bowdens cars on the move they were on trucks.
I'm guessing you've seen replicas.

Not sure of the relevance of you being in the amg c63 but nicely dropped in anyway.
A couple of questions: How did you know it was the guys wife with him in the ' phase 4' ? And they were somehow both driving the car? |

Hulk, I've seen the same car in Sydney a year or so ago and I've always wondered if it was a genuine phase 4 myself. EDIT: Did the license plate happened to be spelt HO.004 ?

While the "Phase 4" didn't exist as a sale car I do believe all the test and homologation units were purchased by the Victorian police and used as high speed highway patrol cars. The much hated "Candy" cars. Given how fast these were and how badly some police drivers were trained I guess there would be few [ if any] left. For a brief time I was employed as an apprentice at FoMoCo and knew a few of the development engineers and the basics of the car were there at that time. Oversized sump with "Ears" fabricated exhaust system [ read "extractors"] and lots of engine work. Others with far more knowledge than I will now jump in and give the real details

But anyway this was in Queensland near where their collection is based so I wasn't surprised. But it was many years ago. I was filling up my 1990 VN SS Commodore at the time. Just thought I'd drop that in there |

Maybe it wasn’t actually a BBQ that he went to but rather a sausage sizzle that was put on by the local hospital where he sat and eased dropped next to a few Dr’s that were chewing the fat and then watched them jump into their measly old Merc at the end, that they so proudly talked about while munching down a snag. |

Hmmm, maybe it's just me? But.... I honestly don't think Hulks query was unreasonable?
It was asked in good faith.. No malice.. Not arguementive.. Really see no bloody reason for everyone to lay the boots in?

Was the driver of the XA embarrassed to be driving it knowing he'd be eaten for breakky by a badass Camry ?
