Help Please!! Annoying work colleague

I am not sure if this happens to anyone else, but I need some advice. A guy at my work is always raving on about how good his car and how it would beat anything and bla bla bla. This guy is old enough to be my dad, maybe late 40s early 50s, and he doesn't let anyone get a word in when talking about cars. He acts like an expert because he is an old guy.

He drives and 2005 BA GT. Its stock. Its not bad, but he thinks because its a V8 and loud, that its actually quick.
I have an 2011 FG F6. Now he says he would blow me away because he has a V8 and its better and quicker than 6 cylinders. How do I explain to this old guy that technology has changed and I probably have a quicker car than him. I have offered to race him at the drags so its all legal but he reckons only young hoons go there and he doesn't need to race me to know he has the quickest car at work.

What do you guys think would be the best way I could shut this old guy up and prove him wrong?

easiest way to shut him down is just to say as walking away "yer what ever im still happy enough with what I have" and then just ignore what ever reply he has to this

My uncle, with his stock 260kw SS wagon running on no-name Chinese tyres, was still adamant that his car was faster than the XR6T in my signature. Best to just ignore them. Let them talk carp and embarrass themselves.

He is in love with his car, I can understand that I love my car also.
I would probably just laugh the next time he raises the subject, and say "heard it all before" and give him the little finger to side of your mouth you know from the movie (cant remember the name)

Just leave him be, he is happy/proud of his car why take that from him. I have owned a BA mark II GT and a FG G6ET. Assuming no mods etc, the Turbo 6 (270kw) is quicker than the V8 (290kw) BUT I do miss the GT, and if I was going to buy something today I would go for the V8 even if the T6 is quicker, just my personal choice.

I do sometimes think to just leave it be because he is older and i understand he loves his car, but after talking so much crap and saying how he doesn't like 6 cylinders because they are slow, makes me want to shut him up.

I know a lot of people that talk crap, to be honest most do it to build them selves up (they have low self esteem) So they make up stories embellish the truth etc to try to make them seem better than who they are.

Lol i was abit like that more than a few years back thought v8s where king until i drove a f6. Now look at signature.anyway i would let him b he is proud of his car if his car is clean give him a comment on it say it looks good or something get on a better level ya might find he might stop crapping on about his car however yus do have something in common both fpvs. & both should b proud u own 1.
