Default How Many Orders do Ford have for the New Ranger/Everest

Does anyone know how many orders Ford have for the new Ranger/Everest.
I have read a comment on another forum that they have 19,000 orders for them. Seems a lot, but if is true Ford will have a smile like a cheshire cat, Toyota not so much.

Most likely, that 19,000 figure is Australia’s 2022 allocation and now full.
Deliveries start slower than expected but ramp up in Q3 and Q4.

I've just placed an order for a 2022 Focus ST-X. The current status is the touch screen is being re-sourced from another factory as Ukraine production has halted. Production of the Focus ST's will recommence in September with delivery Dec/Jan. That's all subject to change of course.

The dealer is expecting some previous orders to come in August so I might be able to get a test drive.

The dealer was telling me they have over a thousand vehicles on order - the bulk of them Rangers.

19,000 Rangers is a lot though but great news for Ford Australia!

Don’t think the Toy company has that much concern - they look to doing a ok despite the shortfalls all are suffering.
Sure lacking a V6 now in the dual cab range but they’ll react.
Heard like all of them - the amount of lost sales they could have had due to lack of stock was great numbers.

19,000 orders hey, thats bloody fantastic news.

If they delivered them all in one calendar month, along with the 500 orders of other models they'd jump to 2nd on the manufacturers monthly totals..for a month

Plus Toyota Japan looks after Toyota Aust. better than Ford Europe looks after Ford Aust. for supply.
Ranger and Everest sales have been a slow burn and always improving however if there was no supply issues for any manufacturer only then could we know what true buyer preference is vs sales effected heavily by stock availability.

LOL, ouch….
Looks like that 19,000 is spread out over the rest of this year and beyond,
I tried to understand the article in the link but it seems that the trim ordered
plays a big part in the delay. Raptor and Wildtrak ordered today will take 8-9 months,
things like XLT V6 you could probably get a lot quicker and maybe 2.0 diesels too.

Gut feeling is that deliveries wil probably remain 3,000-4,000/mth year, so more of the same
sales but fatter margins for Ford because all those loyal Ranger buyers stumping up.

maybe shipping availability cargo space is a factor in this for now but get the feeling that
Parts supplies (>300) coming from China and the covid lock down there have messed up things.
Now we have brilliant Ranger and Everest but getting the necessary volumes to fill orders is just
so painfully slow, these are golden months for Ford and I hope they keep trying to increase supply..
https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-new...to-nine-months

Quote:

Wildtrak V6 models ordered today could take approximately eight months
to arrive, and vehicles with the optional $1500 Wildtrak Premium Pack are
particularly supply-constrained.

We have also seen very strong demand for the Premium Pack on the
Next-Gen Ranger Wildtrak, which will take some time to work through
given semi-conductor supply constraints,” said a spokesperson for Ford
Australia.

“If customers choose to remove the Premium Pack from their order,
they will be able to take delivery of their Ranger sooner.”

The Premium Pack adds a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system,
matrix LED headlights, auxiliary switches and full LED tail lights.

First deliveries of the Ranger will begin in July, with deliveries of the
Ranger Raptor and Everest to begin in August.

Ford says it has 19,000 orders for the Ranger and Everest, including
4000 for the Ranger Raptor and 2000 for the Everest.

The Everest isn’t immune from long wait times. Ford says you could be
waiting up to seven months for the top-spec Platinum if you order today.

The company recommends customers talk to their dealer, as there’s still
some stock available depending on the dealer, location and specifications.

It says customers after the Ranger Wildtrak V6 could instead look at the
bi-turbo four-cylinder model if they want a vehicle sooner, or opt for a
V6-equipped XLT or Sport.

Likewise, it says other Everest variants are currently more widely available
than the Platinum.

It has been sending letters to customers advising of delays, with one letter
shared on Ford Ranger Next Gen Owners Australia warning “it will be some
months before we are at full supply capacity”.

“For models that are in particularly high demand, specifically the Ranger
Wildtrak 3.0L V6, we will likely be seeing wait lists into 2023,” reads the
letter, signed by Ford Australia president and CEO Andrew Birkic.

New Ranger and Everest is a licence to print money, a lot more money than PX III.
I can imagine that Ford is turning cartwheels trying to get more production going.

I wonder how much dealer or unallocated stock is coming to Australia that buyers don’t know about yet,
there was something about that buried in the article I posted, something about see your dealer….

Am I the only one who is a little disappointed with that number? Given they sell 3000-4000 units a month usually, that's 36,000 to 48,000 cars a year. 19,000 is about half, maybe less.

Hopefully, it's what jpd80 said and they're talking about 2022 allocation only.

Production rates are effected by component suppliers so won't improve supply for Aust. if the Ford plant in Vic started up again as suppliers OS cannot meet current demand.

A better option is have someone build a chip manufacturing plant here however by the time it's active I'll bet the chip shortage is over or the OS semi-conductor manufacturers suddenly can meet demand.

Was thinking the same thing about why have vaccines made here by 2025.

Sadly I think we'll always need vaccines for something and once mRNA tech for "normal" flu vaccines proves successful than Moderna's new planned Melbourne production facility will be in hot demand.

Despite the fact you can't yet even look at one in the flesh, let alone test drive one yet? A lot of people need to touch / feel / drive, listen to the 'expert' reviews and their friends opinions (believe it or not) before they commit.

Everest
https://www.drive.com.au/news/2023-f...waiting-times/

"2023 Ford Everest: Half a year’s worth of sales clocked up in two months"

"Ford Australia is holding more than 2500 orders for the new-generation 2023 Ford Everest four-wheel-drive, which amounts to half a year's worth of sales based on data in the lead-up to the coronavirus pandemic."

Ford will be very happy.

Totally understand that and for the Everest I can understand as that is more focused on consumers. The order number was referencing the Ranger that is more Fleet based I'd suggest which is what I thought might be higher.

One of the pre-orders would've been me for an Everest if they offered it in Blue for the Platinum. Waiting to check out the Raptor in person before putting money down or will wait on the F150.

Apologies, I don't follow. Not all sales are preorders?

The more hype, the better the car, and the sight unseen orders roll in, and repeat the circle.

I bought a new LH Torana before they were released, the hype sucked me into that. If I had had a sit, a fiddle, and a drive for 30 minutes, I would never have bought it. My big mistake brought about by pre-release publicity. Hated it from the second day.

But I am sure that new purchasers will be happy when they get their new Ranger / Everest. As long as the gloss doesn't wear off if something does not meet expectations.

Fair point, we're all different. I've purchased several new cars without test driving in order to get them early.

Due diligence can still be done of course, in this case the outgoing Everest is already a class leader. I'm buying the driveline (2.0TTD / 10sp), which already exists and I've driven. The new model is an improvement on several fronts. Sign of the times too, have a look at the wait times for cars from all manufacturers, try getting your hands on a car to test drive that holds a XX month waiting list.

My Dad purchased a BA XR6T, one within the first batch the dealer got late in 2002. That's what I'd call a riskier 'hype driven' purchase after the AU. What a car though for the time!!

I used to sell Ford - from 1997 to 2008. I remember the hype of the BA model in general. Plenty of people who pre-ordered the car were very happy with their purchase, and some were not.

Personally, I would not buy any car without test driving it first.

As for pre-ordering? You buy the car at full retail (and sometimes with an inflated dealer delivery fee), and then the dealer can hold your trade-in value to ransom until the car arrives. I am sure that some of you may have your trade-in value guaranteed but some people just assume that this is the case and don't read the fine print.

I'm happy to wait. I don't need a car until next May. If they can't get me a car in that time, then I will simply just move onto something else. At the end of the day, the wife doesn't really care what brand she drives as long as it is a SUV that is safe for the grandkids.

I purchased 2 new Fords pre-order, unsighted, and un-driven in OCT 2002.
First a Merc Silver XR6T manual sedan, and a Blood Orange manual FPV Pursuit. (XR6 for Mrs, and me the ute… traded up from AU111 wagon & XLS manual V8 1tonne tray)
XR6 arrived in under a week, and after driving was simply blown away!… What a bloody awesome vehicle! Thought how damn good is this Pursuit going to be with all the FPV hype plus 290kw compared to the lowly 240kw turbo?
After waiting nearly 6 months for the FPV to arrive (very 1st blood orange Pursuit) I was bitterly disappointed… It was a fairdinkum slug! Noisy diff (replaced twice) clunky driveline and wouldn’t hold a candle to the Turbo sedan in performance!
Ended up moving it on within a year, and taught me to NEVER pre-order without trying first.

I'm happy to wait. I don't need a car until next May. If they can't get me a car in that time, then I will simply just move onto something else. At the end of the day, the wife doesn't really care what brand she drives as long as it is a SUV that is safe for the grandkids.
I'm lucky enough to get the Ford staff discount (Father), which makes the whole situation much, much easier. If your wife is driving the Everest, I think you'll be pressed to find a nicer 'road' rugged 4x4 in the class. Some of of the others are really not nice on the road at all.

My Dad went from the XR6T to an XR8 Ute, he turned cars over every 12 months, it was the last V8 Ford he had. I agree with your summation. I wonder if people who truly enjoy the 5.4 V8 have ever experienced the 6T - there will always be V8 purists I guess. It might have been different if Ford released the 5.4 with a Mustang-like exhaust note, the coyote obviously changed everything performance wise. But yes, you can minimise risk in buying new without experimenting, going with a new drivetrain is risky.
