Default Number plate value

I am looking to sell my VIC "HOTXR6" number plates but have no idea of their value. They have white letters on a black Vic large plate. There seems to be a lot of variability on most of the plate trader websites but I am just after a fair and reasonable price.

Your thoughts please ?

you need to advertise it as "expression of interest" to test the water and see how many people are interested, it is a very hard thing to put a value on a number plate because you have to find the right person at the right time. I would set a reserve you are comfortable with and put in on e-bay. Lets face it there are a lot of people out there with hot XR6's but not too many willing to shell out a couple of grand for number plates.

From my experience, people are not prepared to part with big $$$ for number plates. I have tried to sell a set that I would have thought would sell quickly in the past, in fact people tried to buy them when they were on the car! Sold the car interstate and then advertised the plates. Plenty of calls but they were advertised as 'make an offer' and no-one would come up with a suggested figure! I was reluctant to start the price as I didn't know if it would be too much, or too little. In the end I just sold them quickly for what I purchased them for to avoid headaches.

Just like most things... The plates will sell for whatever the buyer at the time is willing to pay, wether it be someone who really wants them and is willing to fork out a couple of grand or not. Just has to be the right person at the right time

To be honest most people wouldnt pay more than $500 for a custom plate.

How much would you be after?

www.numberplatetrader.com.au

You can search for plates for sale in all states and territories and have a wanted section. So if you know the plates are taken you can advertise that you want them.'

I own the TCKFRD nsw plates by the way. :hihi:

The only ones that you can make money of are the ones with single or double digits, anywhere from $50,000 to $300,000 plus in some cases.

Being Victorian plates they'd have that stupid dash between the R and the six. For example; [ HOTXR-6 ]. Would look so much better if it was [ HOTXR6 ].

I cant bring myself to spen an extra $100 for a set of personal plates for the gt. Let alone some stupid amount.

I looked on the rta site. They are charcging some whopping transfer fee for single digit number plates. What a crime
