(typed word for word from Zoom)
VX Commodore Supercharged S The supercharged s is holdens version of the performance six-cylinder family car, popularised by Ford's XR6. With the Eaton M90 blower fitted to the V6, it is rated at 171kW@5200rpm from the factory, with 375Nm of torque at 300rpm. As the torque figures suggest, there is plenty of pulling power down low, but there is no point revving it - all you will achieve is lots of noise. With a quarter mile time in the mid-15's and 0-100km/h in the mid-7's the S would have been considered a very quick car 10years ago. These days it is adequate, and certainly enough for middle-management types to have heaps of fun as they dash betweens ets of traffic lights. The S is comfortably quicker than both the manual and auto-equipped VR-X Magnas and cheaper. It is also quicker in a straight line than any XR6 and is much cheaper than the VCT versions too. Despite the power differential and their inferior brakes, the Faclons are a more invloving drive. If you have the option of choosing one of these cars as a company vehicle, the XR6 would be our choice. just wondering whats peoples thoughts are on this?? From my own personal experiences the Supercharged VX commos are NOT anything to rave about, and certainly not faster than an XR6 of the same model.. from real life experiences aswell not numbers on paper.. |

Is this from the latest ZOOM mag?
Article seems a little dated and irrelevant at this point. ZOOM is a ricer mag anyway, their opinion means nothing to me. : |

well if the S is faster in a straight line then so be it... the S is the poor mans performance car....its got most of what you want bar the big donk....its just a stock commy inside, with bodykit and supercharged...i would rather the xr6, atleast they did something with the interior.
(this is excluding VY models onwards where they finally addressed the S interior) |

ZOOM is ricer mag?
Lol wtf have you even read it? I guess you missed the GO BEFORE SHOW subtitle then huh. Or do you assume that cause they arent full of falcodores that its automatically "rice". Stick to "WHeels" buddy, so you can get tips on the latest brand new cars and leave the tuning to others. |

Zoom has generally better quality cars then a lot of the stereo typical 'aussie car' mags like PFM and street commodores.
i want the 10 second cressida that was in Zoom a few months ago

I think the SC commie v6 was poo, but has plenty of potential...Just not nearly as much potential as the LS1.

while the s/c commie isnt exactly that great in standard form, there are cars running 13's on the stock super charger without going all out on mods.
didnt CSV_LS1's VS do 13's?

Can't say I have seen much in the way of "rice" in Zoom magazine at all. You get "rice" in Hot4s or Fast4s mags though ... bowls full of it

nothing....but in stock form they dont have the outright pace of a BA, so its not suprising that the supercharged S is quicker than a n/a AU XR....jeez touchy
The article is old, so AU's were out then so I came to the conclusion that thats what they are comparing.

who says they dont have the out right pace of a BA.. i'd like to see an AU XR6 vs a BA XR6(n/a)...
depending on trans.. if both were manual.. i know where my money would be....... AU XR over the BA every time.. |

between the cars there wouldnt be a lot in it.. probably would come down to the driver more then anything.. but the AU just being lighter.. (yes i know the BA has 10kw more or so) but i just favour the AU..
i have this argument with nathan a mate of mine with a n/a BA XR6 all the time.. and one day i lined him up.. and my car was quicker.. even if i spin or bog the launch i still end up pulling him in.. both manuals too.. |
