Does anyone know how you go about registering a car with out a compliance plate?
Im told it can be done with a police check?? Has someone had experience with this,I am looking at a car, but it has no compliance plate,what do I need to know? |

NSW should be similar to Vic. you shouldnt have any problems since the car is a 72. youll only have problems if the car is LESS than 15 or 17 years old. (cant remember). if your car is already on the computer data base it will make it easier too. take in your engine number and chassis number and get them to run it through the computer.
you might have to look up the RTA website for NSW yourself as i have only done this in Vic. should be the same though. |

Compliance plates are not a big deal as long as there is some history of registration with the RTA. Ford in their infinite wisdom now use stickers as compliance plates. From BA's onward I think. And these stickers have been known to come off with a high pressure hose at 2nd hand car yards and the like when being detailed. And Ford will never re issue one of these stickers.

Yah; anything older than 15 years in Victoria is registerable. As for NSW, I don't know.

Ring Ford and supply the chassis number - they'll download the original info into a certificate-type form which you just carry a copy of in your glovebox.
