well some of yous may have read the thread about the p plater i know who bought a vt ss with clubsport bodykit and was driving it around even though p platers cant drive v8s or turbos. i did a poll about it being a waste of money. the majority said yes.
well i just resently found out he has a certificate from the rta because he claims it is the only car available and he needs it for work. so my question is now. do you still think it was a waste of money now that it has all been done by manipulating the system? i say good on him, the rule is bogus and he found a way around it. cheers

It won't be a waste of time as long as he doesn't kill himslef or anyone else while being an idiot in it. Rules are made to be bent or broken, and it would appear that he has successfully done one or the other in this case.

If he had to buy a Holden to beat the system, he hasn’t really bet the system.
What’s the credibility of some SS povo pack with a Clubsport bodykit on it?

its good in sa, we can drive whatever we want, just have to pay the insurance(which can be costly) my mate has just turned 20 and picked up his vy clubsport 6speed manual last tuesday. and he is still on his p's till he is 22 due to loosing his license in the past.

I don't see why people feel the need to 'beat the system'.
Statistically young drivers die frequently in powerful cars. So the law is to avaiod this. The same law exsisted when I was on P's but I didn't have a problem. If you can't wait 3 years to buy a V8 then you have a problem. The way I saw it was that I gave me 3 more years to save.

not everyone will die driving a high perfermance car. just because its a holden does not mean its crap. his car looks alot nicer and goes alot faster then some adults here on the forum. and chrome wheels always look nicer imo

IMO, low power cars represent as much, if not more risk that high power cars due to the extra effort that a young twit has to put into making it go sideways etc and the likliehood that a higher powered car would be better equipped to travel at higher speeds - ie have some better suspension, brakes and tyres. Given that at the end of a straight piece of road, either a Corolla or a WRX can be doing 160k's but I would rather be in the WRX to negotiate the corner at the end! If you have the stats, it would make interesting reading - can you post them up? I am not fussed about this young bloke bending the rules, I would have. |

I vote for WGAF. His obviously one of those try hards that feel like the world is against them, so they try and get around every rule to impress there friends. edit: topics like this have been done to death, and usually end in lockage, do a search on "the world against P platers, why do they hate us..sob sob".

The young blokes i know that do this type of thing are self centered brats who's parents gave them little guidance growing up. They are the type who use emergency lanes on freeways when it's busy, they are better than everyone else waiting in line.

All i see is ranting and jealousy. So if you drive a high powered car on you p's you must be a ****er, deserve to be wrapped around a poll, or a rich kid who was spoilt?
Good on your mate for beating the system. |

That was one of the funnier ones. For all the P platers crying its only a couple of years FFS. Your bound to dint/bend our first car in some way or another anyway.

VT wannabe clubby, why would anyone want an exemption to drive one of those?
sounds too fully sick (reads: bullshit) for me to comprehend. if he could get a pass for this so easily then wouldnt all the ricers be doin the same?

Sounds like some people have far too much time on their hands.
There's much more important things in this world than the capacity of your car's engine. Based upon the effort exerted by your friend over such a petty matter, i suspect he is a very entrepenuerial young person and you should seek to have yourself written into his will. Prob worth considering an old legal addage... loopholes are there to exploited, for the short time before they are closed.

dont believe it for a seccond......... a "certificate" to say he can drive the car...........wouldnt you get a special "licence" instead of a "certificate".......thats IF this is true which i doubt...
oh its a pretty certificate, might frame it and put it on teh wall in the study |

I have heard where you can get some exemption (not sure which state) if you(s) can prove that you only have access to a family car, and no other, and that that car is ordinarily something you(s) wouldnt be allowed to drive. I think there are conditions which need satisfying and also strict rules about driving such a car.
I dont think it is easy to get either, from memory.

There is a way around everything, it just comes down to how much money & time your prepared to throw at it trying to find it.
